First, I have something special to share with my SoCal readers - last weekend I went to see one of the funnest, most badass and happy-making shows I've seen in my life. Best part? It happens weekly, its only $10 and there's free gumbo! Check it out:
Vaud & the Villains has been described as what rock & roll would sound like if they played it back in the 1930s. V&V are more than just an eighteen-piece band and two sexy burlesque dancers: they are an entertainment spectacle. To see them perform is to step back into a blending of time and genres that only exists in a V&V show. It’s New Orleans traditional, it’s gospel, it’s smoky backroom slow drag, it’s Dixie, it’s soul, it’s Cajun, it’s a porch front revival show – your living room full of some of the most talented musicians in town singing songs that you may not know, but are so familiar at the same time. If you have a pulse, your toe is tapping and you’re probably on your way to the dance floor. It is simultaneously a 1930’s rock band and a soulful throwback revival era musical. Free Gumbo! Every Sunday in September at Cafe Club Fais Do Do ......And, one of my girlfriends is in the band! Shout out, Arsene!

Truly, if I was not a broke-ass, I'd rent out the club for my rehearsal dinner and have their band perform afterward. It would go down in history as the best rehearsal dinner ever. They'd be a perfect band for your vintage wedding, or any wedding really. Just. plain. fun.
I'll probably be back there tomorrow night, too :) Doors open at 7 - show starts at 8pm.
Second, I have a confession. I have fallen off the fitness wagon once more. The push up challenge fell apart the weekend we were supporting my sick friend (he's much better, thanks), and everything sort of spiraled out from there. Busy schedule, visiting parents, and pizza have all conspired to help me gain a few pounds. But, I am determined to end these yo-yo ways!
So, today, Hunter and I begin a new program:

My best SoCal gal pal has been "shredding it" via her OnDemand system for a while now, and though she says that its the least favorite part of her day - its only 20 minutes long, and she swears she noticed immediate results. So we put it in our Netflix queue and it arrived yesterday. I previewed it, and it looks TOUGH, but fast, and there's no way it can't whip our jiggle into shape if we focus up. With a best friends' wedding in 2 weeks and the TTD shoot in 2 months, its time to get serious. And who better to kick my lazy ass than "The Biggest Loser" guru, Jillian Michaels? Stay tuned for updates....
Speaking of the Trash-the-Dress shoot - anyone know where I can get a decent dress to trash for (hopefully much) less than $100? I checked vintage shops but they're all so.... vintage, in not the right era for my taste. Help a sistah out, knowledgeable brides!
Finally, I'm looking for photos of brides with bangs and/or bobs. Anyone seen a good 'un? I have a hair/makeup consult next week and have noticed a shortage of photos featuring fringe in the bridal blogosphere. What's a be-banged, bob-sporting bride to do?
Thanks, yo. Happy Saturday!
