S-T-Depression

Fedex confirmed this morning that they have lost the package containing my Save-the-Dates. It was supposed to board a truck in Champaign, IL and somehow, it never made it.

We have to wait until a week from tomorrow before we can file a claim, and I'm trying to stay positive, but its so hard. They are so unique, and were completely handmade and labor intensive... even the paper was dyed by hand. Poor Rebekah and Ami at Elizabeth Anne Designs poured so much hard work into them, and now they're just floating around out there.... who knows where.

Its my first major hiccup in what has been an otherwise smooth and fortunate planning process. But that doesn't make it any easier. I've been so excited to send these out - to make everything "official". Plus, with half our guests being out-of-towners and our wedding being on a holiday weekend, its important to get the word spread so people can make their arrangements.

I'm sure we'll come up with a great plan B, if the original box isn't recovered by next week. I just.... its hard not to feel a sense of loss today, y'know?

This sounds eerily familiar to the problem Rachel is having (girl learning along the way). I'm going to be avoiding Fed Ex from now on. I hope you get your package!

@Amanda: Eerily, Rachel's invites were also made by EAD :( Poor Bekah and Ami, watching all that work just vanish!

Omigosh, that is so awful. I guess creations that beautiful catch anybody's eye.. but dammit, can't they let it go to the intended person! That is so sad. I'm truly hoping they miraculously appear somehow!!! I am impressed by your ability to try to stay positive. you are a beautiful soul, so I know it will work out!!!

ST depression to me means EKG changes. I was a bit confused until I read your post. Sorry about your Save the dates. (I still can't say STDs because it reminds me of wanted diseases)

Boo-hiss on Fed-ex!! Brides should have their own personal Fed-ex-er person!

I feel for you, hopefully they'll arrive to you SOON :)

Ugh, sorry dear! I have a very strong feeling that they'll turn up though. Sooner than you think... Holding thumbs for you!

I am so sorry. That sucks enormously. =( And FedEx, too? How totally uncharacteristic.

At least it was the save-the-dates and not the invites, I guess. Cold comfort, though, I know.

NOOOOO!!!!!
I'm so sorry to hear that Dana!!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but if FedEx is actually admitting to you that they're lost... then I'd probably start thinking of alternatives. They kept giving me the run-around.

I hope that you all are able to come up with something just as unique and beautiful to replace them! Luckily, you've got a little time.

P.S. - My invites shipped out again yesterday - via UPS! Can't wait to get them tomorrow!!

No news yet. I was contacted by a reader who works for Fedex (we'll call her the fedex fairy) and she's looking into it, so we'll see!
Argh.
